What is a MERV rating?

The MERV rating is the HVAC industry standard for air filtration. MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value [or MERV for short]; this rating is given regardless of the type of filter 1”, 2”, 4” or 5” in your HVAC system or the physical size [10×10 up to 25×25]. Cost of the filter varies, depending on the brand and size of filter and its MERV rating.
