Could you need a new furnace?
Unless your home is in a tropical location, chances are that you need to use a furnace to produce heat when the weather gets cold. Residents of Kennesaw, Georgia are no exception to that rule. It is also a high probability that some point, that furnace will need to be replaced. If you are not a professional HVAC technician, you may not know when it needs to be replaced. There are some very easy warning signs to spot, though, that will show you that a new furnace is needed.
TEMPERATURE TEST- One of the easiest things to do in order to test your furnace is to simply turn the furnace on and wait to see if #1.) It actually kicks on, and #2.) It blows warm air when it is running. Once you have established that the furnace does run, pay attention to how much you end up having to crank up the thermostat before it gets even close to the temp that it is supposed to maintain. If the house doesn’t warm up, no matter how high or often you adjust the thermostat, chances are that it is time for a new furnace.
RUNNING TEST- Another easy way to tell whether or not you need a new furnace, is to pay attention to the fact that the furnace does/doesn’t turn on and run when it is supposed to. In those cases, it is likely that there’s an issue with the thermostat, wiring or even pilot light. Regardless of the exact cause/causes, most likely it’s time for a new furnace.
AGE TEST- One of the easiest ways to figure out if you need a new furnace is to just look at it. If your furnace looks like it’s been around since the ice age, it’s time for a change! As a whole, furnaces tend to last an average of 15 years. If yours is past it’s prime, replacing it before it completely dies is the best route to take. Though the cold weather in Kennesaw, Georgia is not as cold as the weather at the North Pole, a reliable furnace is still required.
